The rise of Donald Trump has brought the post-WWII liberal world order to the brink of collapse. The chaotic unreliability of the U.S. under his capricious rule and the abandonment of its critical leadership role has created a vacuum in global affairs.
Into that gap, a hesitant Europe, a resentful Russia, and an eager China now step. This series will examine each of the three in turn, looking for strengths and weaknesses at this critical point, as well as for advantages offered and dangers posed to the world at large.
Our explorations will also touch on the Ukraine and Iran wars; the respective roles of NATO, BRICS, the EU, and the UN; and the waxing and waning threat of angry populist nationalism.
