QAnon is the latest great American conspiracy theory. Its key beliefs: a secret cabal “controls global governments,” the 2020 election was stolen, Hollywood and liberal elites crave the blood of children in a bid to sustain their youth. Oh, and Hillary and Barack are behind it all.
This series offers a reasonably close examination of the “conspiracy that unhinged America,” its mysterious roots, its baffling appeal, and its implications for the future of American extremism. How did bizarre QAnon tropes become the essential lore of MAGA world? And how has it spread around the globe?
We will encounter the conspiracy profiteers making millions by promoting and exploiting QAnon insanity.
And we’ll consider what remedies might be brought to bear.
